International research into childhood research
Paediatric Consultant at the Alex and lead research specialist in asthma, allergies and genomics, Professor Mukhopadhyay, is paving the way in developing a new understanding of asthma attacks.
A study by Professor Mukhopadhyay found that common asthma reliever drugs taken by millions of children around the world may increase the risk of asthma attacks for some patients with a particular genetic make-up.
Further research is being undertaken to better the understanding of the underlying functional defects, how asthma and allergies develop and the search for novel therapies.
