One of our Porters had been in ITU with Covid and as a department we were extremely worried about him.
He was eventually moved to Beckett ward which overlooks the Portering & Main Stores area. We could then arrange for him to be at the window at a specific time so that the porters on shift could wave and speak to him.
On his 60th birthday we had as many people as possible maintaining a 2m distance in the main stores delivery yard, and when he came to the window we all sang happy birthday to him. It was a truly emotional moment for all concerned.
