A retired midwife springs to action…

I am a retired Midwife at Worthing, and have worked bank shifts on Delivery Suite throughout the pandemic and also in the Vaccination Hub.

The initial PPE challenges were very hot when delivering babies, but I also remember that the generosity of the public was outstanding. My neighbours in the village of Washington donated toiletries for staff who needed to shower at work before going home.

I was also very grateful to the volunteers who set up shop outside Worthing Hospital so that staff could purchase items in short supply in the shops.  Going into a twilight shift one night with a pack of toilet rolls, some pasta and tinned tomatoes was like winning the lottery.

Here are pictures of me in PPE and colleagues receiving the toiletries taken in April 2020.
