Changes to services at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust

Non-urgent Planned Surgery

In line with national guidance, non-urgent, planned operations are being postponed at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. This will provide extra staff and equipment to meet the demands of Coronavirus care. Urgent, emergency and cancer surgery will continue as normal.

Our teams are contacting the patients who will be affected by these changes. Operations that are postponed will be rescheduled as soon as the demands on our hospitals allow.

Diagnostic Procedures

All non-urgent diagnostic procedures are being postponed. This is to allow extra clinical capacity for Coronavirus care. Our teams are contacting the patients who will be affected by these changes. Diagnostic procedures that are postponed will be rescheduled as soon as the demands on the hospital allow.

Outpatient Appointments

We are continuing to provide outpatient appointments, but our teams are exploring alternatives to patients visiting hospital – including telephone appointments and virtual clinics. Where it is clinically necessary for patient care, face to face appointments will continue. We will be contacting relevant patients about these possible changes over the coming days. For more information see: About your outpatient appointment

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to address the current clinical need in our communities.
