Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness

Following severe brain injury, patients may have reduced consciousness for prolonger periods of time.  Pronged Disorder of Consciousness (PDOC) may also occur in the final stages of dementia or other chronic progressive neurodegenerative disorders.

These disorders include persistent coma, vegetative state, minimally conscious state and “locked-in” states.
