Topics include: labour, newborn feeding and baby first aid. It’s a very friendly group and you can just turn up on your own or with your partner, a friend or your mum. This group is available to anyone under the age of 20.

Antenatal Support Groups

The TAP (Teenage and Pregnant) Antenatal session

A chance to discuss labour and look round the labour ward with Mitch. This is open to anyone delivering at PRH who is under 20. Partners and friends are welcome.

The Bumps Group

This is a 10 week teenage parent group which is run by the Children’s Centres to prepare you during pregnancy, for your labour and when you’ve had your baby.

What can I buy?

FAQ

If you or your parents are claiming Job Seekers Allowance or Income support you can apply for a Sure Start grant from 29 weeks.

If you are not entitled to it in pregnancy you may be able to get it once you have had the baby and are claiming Income support.

You have up to 3 months after the birth to apply for the Sure Start grant.

How to claim

Sure Start Maternity Grant form (Mitch or your community midwife can also give you this form)

If you are working you may get maternity pay or allowance.

Please speak to your employer about what they provide.

• Free Dental Treatment and Free Prescriptions – all pregnant women are entitled to these
• Free help and support to Quit smoking for you and your partner – see our Stop Smoking page for more information.
• Chlamydia Testing – All under 25’s that are pregnant should be offered a self-swab for Chlamydia. It’s easy to do and it is safe to treat in pregnancy. Speak to your midwife or Mitch. It can prevent you going into premature labour or your baby getting an eye infection.
