Nicola Millard, the Lead Specialist Nurse for Wound Care, has won the BSUH Star of the Month Award in recognition of her dedication, care and empathy in the way she looks after patients.
She was double-nominated by Patricia Reid and Maytyra Tiren, both colleagues in clinical photography, who have witnessed first-hand the quality care she delivers.
Patricia explained: “Nicky is the embodiment of what nursing care should be. She is a true professional taking all the time necessary to make sure that patients are dealt with appropriately.”
Maytyra Tiren added: “Nicky deserves to be recognised for all the wonderful work she does around the hospital. She is a delight to work with despite her being under a lot of pressure.
“She is excellent with the patients and strives to ensure they receive exceptional care. Nicky shares her knowledge of different dressings with the nursing staff to enable them to care better for wounds and pressure damage.”
Pictured presenting Nicola with her certificate, BSUH Managing Director Evelyn Barker, said: “It’s been such a privilege meeting with Nicola and hearing more about the phenomenal work she carries out.
“What’s clear from the feedback that’s come through is the real difference Nicola’s making for patients and also the support she’s providing to nursing staff.
“Sharing knowledge and best practice is absolutely key to ensure we’re continually building on our collective experience and skillsets.
“By working more and more closely together we can further improve the quality of care we deliver for our patients. Nicola and her work with colleagues across the Trust is a glowing example of this.”
