13th December: The Princess Royal Hospital Library

The PRH Library, as it’s fondly referred to, is situated on the second floor of the Princess Royal Hospital opposite the Medical Education Centre. It’s on the way to the Bluebell’s Restaurant so is very handy for a quick visit during lunchtime.

Although compact in size, the Library has a generous amount of study space including tables with power sockets, study carrels , 24 PCs and relaxed seating where you can read the paper or just admire the panoramic view of the visitors’ car park.

Our most unusual visitor was a baby blue tit who flew through the open window one sunny spring day. My, the team had a fun time trying to catch it as the little darling fluttered around the room, pooping merrily on books, chairs and tables…!

The two IT rooms are available to book for training events, although capacity is reduced at present to allow for social distancing.

The collection of books and print journals held in the Library covers a wide range of healthcare topics and complements the extensive online resources available to Library members. We also offer a speedy and efficient document supply service for any articles or books not in stock or available online.

Our friendly team are here to help you with all your information and knowledge needs from Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.

We’ll be unstaffed over Christmas and the New Year but 24/7 access is available for library members; simply email us on bsuh.library@nhs.net or speak to a member of our staff at the Enquiry Desk.
