International Clinical Librarian Conference

In 2019 the 10th ICLC was held at Manchester’s Science and Industry Museum. Three of our clinical and specialist librarians attended this conference to learn about what our fellow clinical librarians are up to, and to share good practice.

There were two days of presentations and workshops on subjects such as the impact clinical librarians have, tools and strategies for evidence searching, and health information for diverse communities.

Two of our team gave lightning talks describing some of the work they do as embedded librarians. Tom Roper, one of our clinical librarians, spoke about his involvement with the Brighton Marathon Research Group, and Kevin Burgoyne, one of our specialist librarians, spoke about his involvement in Microguide, a guideline, protocol and policy project at BSUH.

We brought back ideas to share with the rest of our team on improving our skills, embedding our services, and supporting professional development.
