Show and TEL!

Iain and Qayum, our Library & Knowledge Service Learning Technologists have created a series of hands-on sessions to help you enhance your teaching with the use of technology.

To cater for all your learning needs, sessions are offered in the form of both full-length overviews and shorter workshops on using specific teaching tools. Topics range from using video, podcasts and interactive whiteboards to creating quizzes, virtual tours and getting the most out of iris.

If you’re not sure where to start, book onto our introductory Overviews. These 90 minute sessions will introduce the ideas and technologies you need to transform your teaching, training and learning.  We’ll show you how you can save valuable time, have a bigger impact and raise engagement with your learners.

Overviews

  • Podcasting Essentials: How to plan record and launch a podcast.
  • Video Teaching: How to teach, assess and give feedback through video
  • iris Basics: What can you do with it?
  • iris Advanced: Turbocharge your courses!
  • Interactive learning using learning technology

The overviews are open to everyone who is interested in teaching as no background knowledge or experience is required.

Our 60 minute workshops on Teaching tools are much more informal and offer opportunities to explore specific learning technology tools in practice. They require a little preparation but don’t worry; all you need to do is sign up to a free tool and bring some teaching materials along.

Teaching tools workshops

  • Make a virtual tour
  • Make your iris course better
  • Make interactive graphics
  • Make interactive videos
  • Meet and teach online
  • Make and deliver a quiz

By the end of these sessions you’ll know how to do a few things and be ready to start experimenting with the tool.
