4-10 October is Libraries Week: the annual showcase of all the creative, innovative and diverse activities that UK libraries have to offer. The theme this year is how libraries support active and engaged communities.
Did you know that in 2020-2021:
Our team worked on a rota basis to ensure our libraries remained accessible to NHS staff, trainees and students throughout the COVID-19 lockdown.
- 2,695 journal articles were obtained for our members on request by our Document Delivery team, despite the challenges of lockdown.
- 100% requests were processed within one working day
- 81% of journal articles were received by our members by the following day
- 9,425 books were loaned or renewed
- 15,960 ebooks were accessed
- 131 UHSussex Patient Education leaflets were co-written between clinical colleagues and our patient education librarian
- 7,102 Health promotion leaflets were distributed to local GP practices, schools, charities and hospital wards from our Health Promotion Library Team
- 585 in-depth reports on the latest evidence for patient care and service improvement were carried out by our librarians to inform health professionals
- 63 reports were on aspects of COVID-19 which were submitted to the HEE national collection to trace evidence on the pandemic.
- 3,002 targeted email updates on new high-level evidence and key developments were sent to health clinicians and managers
- 335 information skills teaching sessions were delivered to staff, trainees and students by our library teams. Most of these were provided online to support remote working, including a range of sessions on e-learning and using MS Teams from our TEL team.
