Introduction


The Library and Knowledge Service has a number of ways to keep busy health care staff up to date with the steady flow of evidence. Below is a selected list of resources and services available for your use. For all resources visit the Library and Knowledge Service website.

Evidence-Based Clinical Summaries


  • BMJ Best Practice This combines the latest research evidence, guidelines and expert opinion. Regularly updated, it draws on the latest evidence based research to offer step-by-step guidance on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention. Link to the App.
  • Cochrane Clinical Answers – clinically focussed research from Cochrane Reviews. Each CCA contains a clinical Q&A with data on outcomes relevant to healthcare professionals and links to graphics.
  • Clinical Key - a decision-making resource that draws relevant answers from a wide range of current, comprehensive content across 30+ medical specialties.

Evidence Searching


We provide evidence to answer questions about patient care, service improvement, research and clinical teaching. Recent searches for Community Health and Care include:

  • Patient outcome measures relating to nurses in the community setting.
  • Experiences of Children’s Community Nurses delivering End of Life Care in the community.
  • Community nurses using Doppler assessments on wound care - what are the benefits?
  • Can short term interventions in primary care result in long term engagement in community services?
