A new face and a new role in our KnowledgeShare team

Our KnowledgeShare team has grown to meet the increasing demand from Library & Knowledge Services throughout the country. Here’s Rachel Playforth, our former KnowledgeShare Assistant Librarian, and Clare Thornally, our new KnowledgeShare Assistant Librarian to tell you more.

Rachel:

“I am delighted to be seconded to the post of Knowledge Management Librarian, where I will be supporting the expansion of KnowledgeShare by training new teams and working on new developments – I’d been looking forward to touring the country spreading the KnowledgeShare gospel but the pandemic has delayed that plan for the time being! I’m enjoying finding new ways to deliver training and support online instead, and I am hoping to find a little bit of time in between to continue my new lockdown passion of compiling cryptic crosswords.

“I’m pleased to welcome Clare to the KnowledgeShare team as our Assistant Librarian. It’s been a knowledge management challenge in itself to transition into our new roles while working entirely remotely and several hundred miles apart!”

Clare:

“Hello from Bristol! I will be supporting the work of the team to maintain and develop KnowledgeShare. I look forward to meeting some of you, albeit remotely at the present time, as I become active in training and support, and through the provision of evidence searches to the library members of Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust.

Prior to joining the Trust in my first professional role, I was with the splendid library team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHSFT, initially as a Graduate Trainee and then later as their Senior Library Assistant. I have a long affiliation with the NHS, my first career having been as a Mental Health Nurse working in acute admissions and secure rehabilitation, which gives me some insight into the pressures facing clinicians in staying current with new research and finding supporting evidence, particularly at a time such as this.

“We both look forward to working with you in the months to come, and perhaps eventually in person. In the meantime, please do not be shy about getting in touch. We will be happy to help.”

Both Rachel and Clare will be working under Elaine Watson, our Senior KnowledgeShare Librarian.
