BSUH is undertaking a significant technology transformation project. This work will modernise and consolidate the technology we use, so that we can provide first class IT services to our staff and patients.
The transformation project underpins everything we set out in our recently published IT strategy and builds a solid foundation for the next five years.
BSUH’s Nutanix solutions are 100% software-based , and built on the industry’s most popular hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) technology delivering a full infrastructure stack that integrates compute, virtualisation, storage, networking and security to power any application, at any scale.
Dell EMC Isilon is the industry’s number one family scale-out network-attached storage systems, designed for demanding enterprise file workloads and to store, manage and protect unstructured data with efficiency and massive scalability.
New data centre
As part of our hospital redevelopment, we are building a new data centre. The planning for this work is already underway. It is intended to be a ‘lights out’ facility with remote management from the in-house team.
Core networking services
We’re currently undertaking a network re-design to ensure our network is stable, secure and fit for purpose, to support future changes and requirements. This has been made possible by investing in the latest Huawei Core and Edge switches, coupled with a recently refreshed Alcatel wireless network.
Using the most modern tools and user environment personalisation, we’re giving our users the most efficient and seamless access to our IT services. We’re investing in new hardware and cutting edge endpoint technologies to ensure out staff have the access to the data they need, when they need it.
With the ever changing security landscape, we need to ensure we are continually investing to make our services safe from attack or exploitation. Working with NHS Digital and specialist third parties, we are ensuring our security posture remains heightened. We aim to stay one step ahead by investing in the latest technologies and the NAC alongside SIEM.
