\nWhen we couldn\u2019t believe what we heard<\/em>
\nRecent news was everything viral<\/em>
\nLeading us to a downward spiral<\/em>
\nWe were forced like Europe into lockdown<\/em>
\nBy a virus sporting a spiky crown<\/em>
\nAlready we\u2019d been told to home school<\/em>
\nWhich had initially felt almost cool<\/em><\/p>\n
\nShopping to find no flour, to be done alone<\/em>
\nNo chance of going to a party or wedding<\/em>
\nOr seeing parents with the virus spreading<\/em>
\nExercise but once a day<\/em>
\nAnd only with household members stay<\/em>
\nWe miss our sports, football, hockey and tennis<\/em>
\nThis has really turned out to be a menace!<\/em><\/p>\n
\nEnsured time with the family was obligated.<\/em>
\nThere\u2019s so many new hobbies like going for a jog,<\/em>
\nBaking bread or writing a blog<\/em>
\nWhere once the garden was full of weeds<\/em>
\nNow it\u2019s raked and sown with seeds.<\/em>
\nThe cars now look bright and even posher<\/em>
\nFollowing their clean with the pressure washer.<\/em><\/p>\n
\nFor example immunity is good in herds.<\/em>
\nCOVID-19 was an unknown word<\/em>
\nAnd social distancing, would have been quite absurd<\/em>
\nAnd think of those put out to furlough<\/em>
\nNow sitting at home drinking Merlot<\/em>
\nSocial evenings are held on Zoom<\/em>
\nBeing together, not in the same room<\/em><\/p>\n
\nAnd they know life will never be the same<\/em>
\nThursdays deliver the NHS clap<\/em>
\nAlong with all key workers a slap on the back<\/em>
\nVE Day celebrations were somewhat muted<\/em>
\nAs the 2 metre rule couldn\u2019t be disputed<\/em>
\nHowever, it made us ponder on the hardships of war<\/em>
\nAnd how we are really not so poor<\/em><\/p>\n
\nIs there a vaccine on the way?<\/em>
\nWe hope to stay fit and take new rules in our stride<\/em>
\nWe\u2019ll make our actions something to pride<\/em>
\nSurprising benefits may be unfurled<\/em>
\nIn this distinctly upside down world<\/em>
\nAnd when we emerge to something more formal<\/em>
\nWho knows life may be better in this new normal?<\/em><\/p>\n
