What we do

The hepatology nursing team cares for patients with hepatitis C, hepatitis B and haemachromatosis.  We also provide hepatitis services to East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Western Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and within the communities in Sussex.  We are part of the Sussex Hepatology Operational Delivery Network (ODN) for hepatitis C treatment.

Referral information for GPs

Referrals for patients with hepatitis C and B can be sent directly to the nursing team.  We accept letters or you can complete and send us a referral form.

We also arrange genetic testing for patients suspected of having haemachromatosis and manage venesection programmes. We also arrange and oversee the fibroscan service.  For these services, we only accept referrals from clinicians within BSUH and not directly from GPs.

We host the Sussex Hepatitis C Network, which develops and provides care pathways for patients across Sussex.
