Dermatology

What we do

We provide expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment of skin complaints.

General dermatology clinics are provided daily and diagnostic biopsies performed at the same visit where possible. A full range of topical, drug, light treatment (phototherapy), cryotherapy and surgical treatments is available.

Suspected skin cancer referrals are seen urgently in dedicated 2 week wait clinics.

An expert multidisciplinary team, including a dermatologist, plastic surgeon, oncologist and nurse specialist provides care for complex skin cancer.

Specialist clinics provided at Brighton General Hospital include:

  • basal cell carcinoma clinics
  • biologic therapy clinics
  • hair and scalp disorder clinics
  • patch testing clinic
  • psoriasis clinics
  • transplant recipient skin surveillance clinic
  • vulval and genital dermatology clinic

Location

We are based at Brighton General Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital.

General dermatology clinics are also provided at Meridian Surgery Peacehaven, Lewes Victoria Hospital and Mile Oak Surgery.

If required, day surgery is organised either at Brighton General Hospital or Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, depending on the complexity of the surgery and patient choice.
