Brighton Pavilion by Ulika Jarl. An illustration for Connect Arts and Wayfinding Project.

Swedish born, Jarl is a designer/maker/illustrator. She has illustrated some of Brighton’s, her hometowns most recognisable scenes. The intricate line drawings of urban scenes with splashes of colour usually highlight the greenery in amongst the man-made buildings.

Ulrika Jarl is one of 12 artists commissioned by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, and Willis Newson, to create artworks that will be produced as large-scale feature wall prints and placed at key junctions to aid wayfinding around the redevelopment of Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospital, due to open from 2020.
