12 artists and illustrators have been appointed to create original works in response to the theme ‘Connect with Place’.
The Connect Art and Wayfinding project will create wall artworks that will complement the standard signage system helping people to navigate themselves around the new hospital.
Using artwork not only makes navigation easier, it also adds a human touch to make the corridors and lifts more friendly and welcoming for patients.

Subject matters for these artworks were selected through consultation with staff and patients at RSCH and include Brighton Pier, De la Warr Pavilion and West Wittering Sand Dunes. Connect has been in contact with the various Sussex locations that will celebrated by the project.
Sally Ann Lycett, Director of External Relations of De La Warr Pavilion said of the project
”We are very excited about this! We are totally on board with the idea that arts and health and well-being are intrinsically linked and indeed this was one of the founding principles of the Pavilion – designed for healthy minds and healthy bodies, by the sea.”
