The BSUH Charity works closely with our Charity of the Year partners to raise money for any hospitals, wards or departments that mean something to you.
Giving focus to your team’s charitable giving is a great way to bring colleagues together and keep morale high. There are so many fundraising activities you and your team can get involved in, too!
Our Fundraising Manager is dedicated to working with your group to help plan your event calendar, provide you with materials you need, and help meet your business goals and corporate social responsibility needs.

- Cake sales & coffee mornings
- Dress down days for £1
- Display collection tins in canteens & reception areas

Gifts in Kind
Does your company offer great services, products or meals? You could support of our charity through donating raffle or auction prizes! Ideas include a free venue for one of our events, flowers, vouchers for a meal or spa experience, gift boxes, or even tasty chocolate treats. If you have something you’d like to donate, we would love to hear from you.
Please contact us at uhsussex.charity@nhs.net or 01273 664708.
Payroll Giving
Payroll giving, or ‘Give As You Earn’ is a tax efficient scheme which enables employees to make regular donations to BSUH Charity direct from their salary, before tax. This means that a £10 a month donation will only cost employees £8. Donations of any amount can be made through Payroll Giving to any of our four hospitals, wards, or departments.
To set up payroll giving to BSUH Charity and improve care for patients at The Princess Royal Hospital, The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, The Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Sussex Eye Hospital, or a ward or department that means something to you, make sure your company offers payroll giving by contacting your payroll department. They will be able to set up payroll giving to direct your donations to the BSUH Charity.
Charity name: Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals Charity, Charity Commission number: 1050864
Once your payroll giving is set up, we will let you know when we receive the first donation to thank you for your support and confirm your donation.
Sponsorship opportunities
Sponsoring a Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity event is a great way of building positive awareness of your brand and improving care for patients. We offer flexible sponsorship packages depending on the event and your budget.
To talk to us about our latest sponsorship packages, please contact us at uhsussex.charity@nhs.net or 01273 664708.
Gifts from life events are a thoughtful way to celebrate the occasion and support the ward or department that means something to you at the Princess Royal Hospital, Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Royal Sussex County Hospital, or Sussex Eye Hospital.
Rather than accepting gifts, you could ask your family and friends to make a donation to the charity in lieu of a present for your birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement, or any other special occasion!
Your donation will improve care for patients through state-of-the-art equipment, environmental enhancements, or specialty staff training. These priorities advance care at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust beyond what we can provide with core government funding.
Email uhsussex.charity@nhs.net or call 01273 664708 to talk to us about marking a life event with a gift to Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity, set up an online celebration page, or post your donations to us.
It’s easy to set up an online celebration fundraising page for friends and family to donate by following this link. This is a safe and secure way to donate and it enables your friends and family to see other donations at a glance.

Remembering a loved one by celebrating the life they lived can be a comfort. Many people choose to commemorate their loved one by fundraising or making a donation in their memory. By improving care for future generations, your loved one’s legacy lives on.
There are different ways to do this:
Funeral Collections
You may want to encourage people to make a donation in lieu of flowers at the funeral. Many funeral directors are familiar with this type of giving, so please let them know you would like to support the BSUH Charity in this way. Also, if you would like your gift to benefit a particular hospital, ward, or department, please state this so we can ensure to fulfill your wishes.
You may also want to have donation envelopes available at the funeral or memorial service. If you would like to offer envelopes to pass on to relatives, friends and colleagues or the funeral director, please get in touch and we can send you information and envelopes.
Email us to get in touch so we can support you.
Set up an Online Tribute Page
You can fundraise online in memory of a loved one by setting up a personalised giving page. An online tribute to your loved one is a lovely way to leave a lasting memory with a photograph and a few special words. Friends and family can leave donations in lieu of flowers and messages of remembrance. This is a safe and secure way to donate and it enables your friends and family to see donations at a glance. If desired, please write the name of the hospital, department, ward or fund that you are raising funds for on your page.
Online pages can be set up through:
• Memory Giving
• JustGiving
• Virgin Money Giving
Organise your own fundraising activity
If you wanted to organise an event or fundraising activity to remember your loved one then do get in touch and we can support you through this. We would love to hear from you 01273 664708 or uhsussex.charity@nhs.net.
Join a Fundraising Event
Some people choose to remember a loved one by taking part in events and raising money in their honour. There are many events in Brighton, Hove, and Mid Sussex that you may want to take part in. Please look at our Events Page to see the most recent list of events and do get in touch if you would like to take part.
The loss of a loved one can be very difficult and we appreciate you considering supporting our charity at this time.
If you want to speak to someone at the charity about other ways to support then please email us or ring 01273 664708.
Over the years, the hospitals supported by BSUH Charity have benefited greatly from the generosity of people leaving a gift in their Will.
Leaving a gift to BSUH Charity in your will is a generous way to make a lifelong donation to a hospital you care about. Of course, ensuring your loved ones are cared for comes first, but leaving a charitable gift in your Will advances care for patients in Brighton, Hove, and Mid Sussex for generations to come.
We rely entirely upon the compassion of people like you, who think of how your children, neighbours, nieces, nephews and friends will be cared for in the years to come. Your generosity enhances healthcare for patients at the Princess Royal Hospital, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, the Sussex Eye Hospital, and all of our satellite sites, such as the Hove Polyclinic and Park Centre for Breast Care.
If you are interested in making a gift to charity in your Will, please do let us know. We can provide some helpful information and provide draft wording which may be useful to your solicitor. We would also like to have the opportunity to thank you personally for your generosity.
For more information and suggested wording about legacy donations, we recommend you download our Gifts in Wills leaflet.
