To set up payroll giving to BSUH Charity and improve care for patients at The Princess Royal Hospital, The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, The Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Sussex Eye Hospital, or a ward or department that means something to you, make sure your company offers payroll giving by contacting your payroll department. They will be able to set up payroll giving to direct your donations to the BSUH Charity.

Sponsorship opportunities

Sponsoring a Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity event is a great way of building positive awareness of your brand and improving care for patients. We offer flexible sponsorship packages depending on the event and your budget.

To talk to our fundraising manager about our latest sponsorship packages please contact her on: 01273 665102 or Jessica.Burgess@bsuh.nhs.uk.

Gifts from life events are a thoughtful way to celebrate the occasion and support the ward or department that means something to you at the Princess Royal Hospital, Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Royal Sussex County Hospital, or Sussex Eye Hospital.

Rather than accepting gifts, you could ask your family and friends to make a donation to the charity in lieu of a present for your birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement, or any other special occasion!

Your donation will improve care for patients through state-of-the-art equipment, environmental enhancements, or specialty staff training. These priorities advance care at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust beyond what we can provide with core government funding.

Email charity@bsuh.nhs.uk or call 01273 665102 to talk to us about marking a life event with a gift to Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity, set up an online celebration page, or post your donations to us.

It’s easy to set up an online celebration fundraising page for friends and family to donate by following this link. This is a safe and secure way to donate and it enables your friends and family to see other donations at a glance.

To post your donations, please send them to us at:

Please remember to include your name and contact details so that we can write to thank you for your donation.

Remembering a loved one by celebrating the life they lived can be a comfort. Many people choose to commemorate their loved one by fundraising or making a donation in their memory. By improving care for future generations, your loved one’s legacy lives on.

There are different ways to do this:

Funeral Collections

You may want to encourage people to make a donation in lieu of flowers at the funeral. Many funeral directors are familiar with this type of giving, so please let them know you would like to support the BSUH Charity in this way. Also, if you would like your gift to benefit a particular hospital, ward, or department, please state this so we can ensure to fulfill your wishes.

You may also want to have donation envelopes available at the funeral or memorial service. If you would like to offer envelopes to pass on to relatives, friends and colleagues or the funeral director, please get in touch and we can send you information and envelopes.

Email us to get in touch so we can support you.

Set up an Online Tribute Page

You can fundraise online in memory of a loved one by setting up a personalised giving page. An online tribute to your loved one is a lovely way to leave a lasting memory with a photograph and a few special words. Friends and family can leave donations in lieu of flowers and messages of remembrance. This is a safe and secure way to donate and it enables your friends and family to see donations at a glance. If desired, please write the name of the hospital, department, ward or fund that you are raising funds for on your page.

Online pages can be set up through:
Memory Giving
JustGiving
Virgin Money Giving

Organise your own fundraising activity

If you wanted to organise an event or fundraising activity to remember your loved one then do get in touch and we can support you through this. We would love to hear from you 01273 665102 or Charity@bsuh.nhs.uk.

Join a Fundraising Event

Some people choose to remember a loved one by taking part in events and raising money in their honour. There are many events in Brighton, Hove, and Mid Sussex that you may want to take part in. Please look at our Events Page to see the most recent list of events and do get in touch if you would like to take part.

The loss of a loved one can be very difficult and we appreciate you considering supporting our charity at this time.

If you want to speak to someone at the charity about other ways to support then please email us or ring 01273 665102.

Over the years, the hospitals supported by BSUH Charity have benefited greatly from the generosity of people leaving a gift in their Will.

Leaving a gift to BSUH Charity in your will is a generous way to make a lifelong donation to a hospital you care about. Of course, ensuring your loved ones are cared for comes first, but leaving a charitable gift in your Will advances care for patients in Brighton, Hove, and Mid Sussex for generations to come.

We rely entirely upon the compassion of people like you, who think of how your children, neighbours, nieces, nephews and friends will be cared for in the years to come. Your generosity enhances healthcare for patients at the Princess Royal Hospital, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, the Sussex Eye Hospital, and all of our satellite sites, such as the Hove Polyclinic and Park Centre for Breast Care.

If you are interested in making a gift to charity in your Will, please do let us know. We can provide some helpful information and provide draft wording which may be useful to your solicitor. We would also like to have the opportunity to thank you personally for your generosity.

For more information and suggested wording about legacy donations, we recommend you download our Gifts in Wills leaflet.

We can be contacted on 01273 665102 or charity@bsuh.nhs.uk.

The NHS is turning 70!

Celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS with a Big7Tea party.

The NHS is turning 70 this year and what better way to celebrate one of the nation’s most loved institutions than with a cup of tea?

But this will be more than just a regular brew. On and around 5th July, people up and down the country will get together to raise a cuppa to our beloved NHS and raise funds for NHS charities. Join the celebrations and host a Big7Tea party to raise money for the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity (BSUH Charity).

Support Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity

Over the last 70 years the NHS has transformed the health and wellbeing of the nation and become the envy of the world. And helping behind the scenes are more than 250 dedicated NHS charities – one being Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity.

Whether supporting research and development, brightening up hospital environments, providing state-of-the-art equipment, or supporting staff, the BSUH Charity improves care at the four hospitals of the Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust to go above and beyond.

Host a NHS Big7Tea

It’s easy to host a NHS Big 7Tea party. Download your BSUH Charity Big7Tea Party Pack here. The pack includes a fundraising agreement, posters, bunting, and tea cake cards to label your tasty treats. Decide where and when you want to hold your tea, and begin inviting your friends, neighbours, family and colleagues. Enjoy the party, collect your donations and pay them in to the BSUH Charity.

We want to make a map of all of the Big7Tea parties hosted in Mid Sussex for the BSUH Charity so please complete the Fundraising Agreement (page 1 of the Big7Tea pack), and email or post it back to us.

Some ideas for where you could host the event include your lovely garden, community centres (Cornerstone, Ralli Hall, Yew, Jubilee, Ashenground, Hangletown, Fairfield, Gattons, or others), your local parish, or perhaps even your local school.

Your Big7Tea party can support any of the four hospitals: the Princess Royal Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, or the Sussex Eye Hospital – or a ward or department that means something to you. Make sure you include this information when you send in your fundraising pack or Big7Tea Party Collection.

Paying in Money or Making a Donation

How to raise money?
The easiest way would be to ask your guests for a donation. You could also hold a raffle or a competition – it’s entirely up to you! Remember the more fun the better – this is a birthday party!

Do I have to collect the money myself?
There are two ways to collect the money.
1. You could collect cash or cheques on the day and pay it in to the BSUH Charity.
2. You could set up an online fundraising page and ask your guests to make secure donations to your page. Online donations are automatically deposited into the BSUH Charity bank account and directed to the area you care about. You can set up your Big7Tea party fundraising page by following this link .

Making a Donation
Supporters need not host a Big7Tea Party to contribute to the NHS’s birthday celebrations. If you would like to make a donation to the BSUH Charity as a Thank you for the compassionate, steadfast service of the staff at our hospitals, you can make a donation here.

You can also send cheques made payable to ‘BSUH Charity’ to BSUH Charity, RSCH c/o Post Office, Eastern Road, Brighton, BN2 5BE. If your donation is for a specific hospital, you should note this on the back of your cheque.
