A seasonal message from BSUH Charity’s Director

A message from Sarah Tasker, BSUH Charity Director

Sarah Tasker

“It’s the time of year that we look both backwards and forwards. Looking back over 2019, we have had a wonderful year thanks to our amazing supporters.

From the 24 brave fundraisers who abseiled from the i360 to our young fundraiser who rode her bike round Hove Park, and all the kind efforts of people running, cycling or simply giving because they care, we are truly grateful.

All this support has helped make a real difference for patients across all four of our hospitals.

Making a difference

“To name but a few examples, we have been able to provide new kit for the Sussex Eye Hospital; reconfigure the TMBU to improve the environment for our youngest patients and their families; provide bras for breast care patients; and secure lockers for patients recovering from hip fractures at The Princess Royal Hospital.

We thank everyone for their generosity.

Looking ahead

“2020 is shaping up to be another big year for BSUH Charity. We look forward to joining the third national NHS BIG Tea in July to recognise and celebrate the wonderful NHS across the UK and will also be completing a second abseil event at the i360.

We’re also very excited to be local charity partner of the Brighton Marathon Weekend in 2020, with dozens of fundraisers taking part over the weekend in celebration of the incredible staff at BSUH and in support of their local hospitals.

Thanks to BSUH staff

“Our fundraisers are motivated to support us to thank all the hardworking staff at BSUH; from our doctors to our nurses, healthcare assistants and other healthcare professionals, cleaners, porters, kitchen staff and everybody else that works with and in support of taking care of our patients.

“It humbles me every day to see what they do and I’m delighted that the Charity can thank them in a small way by providing lunch on Christmas day through our Spread Christmas Smiles campaign.

“Thank you and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.”
