Patients waiting to be admitted to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Brighton’s County Hospital are sitting more comfortably thanks to supporters of BSUH Charity.
Donations recently paid for two new sofas and an arm chair for the unit’s dedicated Quiet Room.
Are you sitting comfortably?
The new light green seating has replaced a rather uncomfortable hard sofa.
Matron Ruth Tollyfield is delighted with the new look room: “I think it’s important for every ward area and clinical area to have a quiet room.
“It’s really important to have that space for patients to be able to relax. Patients at CICU being admitted to the ward now have a space to come to if their bed is not quite ready.
“It’s also really important if there needs to be difficult discussions with patients and relatives that there’s a comfy private space for that.”
Thank you
People donating to BSUH Charity can decide whether they want to give to a particular ward, department or to the general fund.
Ruth thanked those who have donated to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit via BSUH Charity’s CICU Fund: “People were using this room before, but the furniture wasn’t appropriate.
“It’s great to have furniture that’s really comfortable. It also looks a lot brighter; it looks more like a sitting room now. Thank you.”
