Raise a Cuppa: Host your ‘Big 7Tea Party’ to celebrate the NHS turning 70!

The BSUH Charity is asking Brighton, Hove and Mid Sussex to raise a cuppa and celebrate our wonderful health service.

Join the local businesses and BSUH NHS Trust teams that already hosted a Big7Tea Party to celebrate the NHS’s 70th birthday. They’ve raised £1700 for our local NHS Charity, the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity (BSUH Charity).

Hosting your own Big7Tea Party is easy – gather your friends, family or colleagues together for a cuppa and cakes, share your memories about the NHS and raise funds for the BSUH Charity. Your tea party can be in your front room, staff room, village hall or garden.

The BSUH Charity exists to improve the experience of patients at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital and the Sussex Eye Hospital. We also support other local services such as Hove Polyclinic and the Park Centre for Breast Care.

Sarah Tasker, the BSUH Charity Director said of the Big7Tea, “The NHS is a truly amazing organisation, just like the staff that work within it to make it so. It’s more like an old friend. When you really think about it, the NHS cares for our local community from cradle to grave, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this incredible service than by sharing a cuppa and supporting the NHS Charities that work to make the NHS even better.”

“We really hope that folks will join in the celebrations and give back to our four hospitals in Brighton, Hove and Mid Sussex.  We are thrilled that local companies, such as ASDA-Hollingbury, ASDA-Marina, and Coastal Care have already hosted their parties. There are also some great wards within our hospitals, such as the new Ambulatory Care Unit, Level 8a West, Ansty Ward, Ardingly Ward, and the Speech & Language Therapy team that have hosted Big7Tea Parties.

“Every penny raised from Big7Tea Parties will go towards improving the care of our patients over and above what can be achieved with core government funding.”
