Ultimate Urgent Care Centre needs your support at the Royal Sussex County Hospital

The first phase of the Ultimate Urgent Care Centre Campaign of the BSUH Charity is complete, thanks to the generosity of the local community.

Team in the Urgent Care Centre are really pleased with the new Welcoming Waiting area. Patients now enjoy a professional-looking waiting area with comfortable seating and creative décor. A TV is set to be installed soon to provide a bit of distraction and relaxation to reduce what might otherwise be a stressful time.

Elaine Burnett, Consultant Nurse in the Urgent Care Centre has shared, “Patients have complimented the new waiting area. They’ve said that before the works, the space felt unfriendly and uninviting. Now – they can’t believe the difference. The space is clean, attractive, and bright. Though they aren’t here for long, from the first moments waiting to see a doctor, patients have a much better experience.”

The next stage of the campaign will make the service more efficient in the Urgent Care Centre, but it won’t happen without the generous gifts of those who care about the hospital.

The support of the community is needed to make the next phase possible: Rapid Assessment Kits. The kits will be full of the tools needed for patient care right at the fingertips of staff, in every consultation room, at every treatment pod.

The nurse practitioners that work in the Urgent Care Centre are really looking forward to having the kits on-hand. Tina Braysher-Mant shared, “The Rapid Assessment Kits will help make us more efficient. We’ll be able to assess and care for patients so much quicker, by having the kit we need in every room. Rather than having to share equipment and spend time looking around for the equipment we need, we’ll be able to focus our time and energy on what we all love to do most – care for our patients so they can get well and get back to their daily activities.”

The Urgent Care Centre sees 50,000 patients a year. This fundraising campaign will ensure that patients have the best possible experience and treatment in one of the hospital’s busiest departments. The Ultimate Urgent Care Centre Campaign has raised over half of the funds needed to provide all of the equipment needed, but your help is still needed.
