Hair today, gone tomorrow

A scaffolder working on the new helidack on the roof at the Thomas Kemp Tower has had his beard and all his hair shaved off to raise money for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU).

Steve Chapman has raised over £500 after seeing for himself the good work being done on the unit, which is the nearest clinical department to the new helideck. All the construction staff working on the tower roof have been given a special induction which includes a film showing the work of TMBU.

Clare Morfoot, Neonatal Matron, said: “A tremendous working relationship has grown up between us and the helideck team. They go out of their way to make sure their work doesn’t affect the babies. The money will go towards buying new equipment for the unit.”

Steve said: “I’ve been working on scaffold for more than thirty years but this job is a bit different. I’m really pleased that I can help raise some money for the babies.”
