Clinical directorates

Our services are managed through 12 clinical directorates which reflect the natural flow of patients in and out of the hospital and support strong connections with our external partners. Each clinical directorate has a leadership team which includes a Clinical Director, Lead Nurse and Directorate Manager.

The clinical directorates are:

  • Central Clinical Services – pathology, pharmacy, radiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech and language therapy
  • Children’s Services – paediatric medicine, surgery and neonatology
  • Cancer – chemotherapy, oncology, radiotherapy, breast care, medical physics, haematology, palliative care
  • Cardiovascular – cardiac surgery, cardiology, vascular, renal
  • Musculoskeletal – trauma, major trauma, orthopaedics, pain management, rheumatology
  • Speciality Medicine – elderly medicine, respiratory, HIV/GUM, diabetes and endocrinology, infectious disease, dermatology
  • Women’s Services – gynaecology, obstetrics and midwifery
  • Acute Floor – A&E, AMU, SAU, acute and general medicine, critical care
  • Head and Neck – audiology, ENT, ophthalmology, oral/max fax, clinical media centre, outpatients
  • Neurosciences and Stroke Services – neurology, neurosurgery, stroke, rehabilitation
  • Perioperative – theatres, day surgery, SSD, anaesthetics, pre-operative assessment
  • Abdominal Surgery and Medicine – general surgery, GI medicine, urology, bowel screening, endoscopy
