Learning, education, training and development

We are committed to the development of our staff and have good facilities for training. The Audrey Emerton Building was purpose-built on the RSCH site for undergraduate and postgraduate training and is also used as a general education and meeting centre. As a result, there is a comprehensive range of development opportunities for staff.

The Learning and Development Department provides ongoing training to staff across the Trust’s hospitals, for example:

  • General skills training
  • National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in health and associated subjects
  • Leadership and management development

There is also department-specific training and non-clinical training undertaken. There are numerous specialist subject training providers, for example:

  • Infection control

  • Medical devices

  • Manual handling

  • Health and Safety training.

Within the clinical divisions there are practice development teams and specialist clinical skills training.
