What if I need more help?
If you have tried using some of the self-help suggestions and links from this site and feel you would benefit from further support we suggest contacting your GP. You may be referred to local mental health services which are structured around a 'stepped model of care'. This is a way of trying to match the right type and level of treatment and care to a person's needs.
Step zero is about promoting mental health and keeping ourselves psychologically well, coping with difficulties and short term challenges etc.
Step one is also about self help and ‘watchful waiting’ and support from your GP.
Step two to step five is where GPs refer on for a range of treatment and care services.
The information contained in First steps to mental wellbeing in Brighton & Hove may be helpful for people and their carers at any stage of their treatment and care.
