Our clinical librarians are embedded in specific clinical teams at RSCH, Mill View Hospital and Chailey Heritage Clinical Services. The work of the clinical librarians involves tending to their teams’ information needs and ensuring that clinical staff have the evidence they need for their decision making and professional development.
A clinical librarian working with a team of health professionals can impact patient care by bridging the gap between recent, high quality research and clinical practice.
Practically this involves a number of tasks including attending ward rounds and meetings, supporting journal clubs, conducting literature searches and providing current awareness and information skills training.
The clinical librarians support patient care, continuing professional development, clinical teaching, research, audit, and service development.
Our clinical librarian at RSCH currently works with the Accident and Emergency, Neonatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Elderly Medicine departments.
