CIRU facilities

The Brighton and Sussex Clinical Investigation and Research Unit (CIRU) is available for use by researchers from the regional health and academic sectors.

This £4 million state-of-the-art facility, unique in Sussex, offers a range of specialised equipment and resources to carry out clinical investigations, patient-centred research and research training.

The CIRU was funded by the Department of Health, Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and Brighton & Sussex Medical School. It is one of the 26 clinical research Facilities in the UK funded by the National Institute for Health Research established to support clinical research.

Researchers form the Trust, Medical School and partner organisations are eligible to apply to use the facility.  Depending on the nature of your research generic staffing support and basic consumables, may be provided free to the partner organisations. Any specialist support, equipment or services will need to be supported by grant income.

Applications may also be submitted by other researchers and commercial companies. However, users will be required to meet the full economic costs associated with using the facility.
