The Care Quality Commission replaced the Healthcare Commission, the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the Mental Health Act Commission in April 2009.
Where the pages of this website refers to the HCC this is a reference to the Healthcare Commission up until 31 March 2009 and to the Care Quality Commission from 1 April 2009.
There are different classes of registration with the CQC. Trusts can be "registered", "registered with conditions" and "not registered".
If there are conditions the CQC concluded that these Trusts do not pose an immediate risk to patients, but it imposed conditions because they do not yet fully observe the regulations for maintaining cleanliness and safety.
