SEKPA is a registered charity which formed in 1980 to help Kidney Patients in East and West Sussex.
Patients are treated at Sussex Kidney Unit of the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and at its satellite Dialysis Units at Bexhill, Worthing and Crawley.
The current Committee of Trustees is made up of volunteer Kidney Patients and their carers and is supported by Doctors and Nursing Staffs at all locations.
SEKPA's objectives are:
-
to support kidney patients and their families in all ways possible
-
to provide an emergency Welfare Service
-
to provide information, mainly through our quarterly magazine, SEKPA News
-
to raise money to purchase additional equipment for the wards and all the Renal Units
-
to support research into kidney disease
Over recent years SEKPA have raised more than £150,000 for new equipment, including:
- the latest dialysis machines
- reverse osmosis water purifiers
- dialysis chairs and beds
Where does the money come from?
All of our money is currently raised through donations or at fund raising events, such as:
-
our Charity Walks
-
the Annual Raffle
-
supermarket and street collections
-
stalls at local fairs and carnivals
-
the generosity of SEKPA Members and the General Public
