Orthoptics is an Allied Health Profession. The Orthoptic team provides a paediatric and adult service for:

  • Assessment of visual function and ocular motility disorders, including measurement of vision and assessment of visual behaviour in infants
  • Assessment of squint and ocular motility disorders
  • Non-surgical treatment of related problems such as lazy eye (amblyopia) and double vision
  • Secondary vision screening of children.

Orthoptists also assess Visual Fields and are involved in the assessment of patients with Glaucoma and Cataracts
