BSUH Council of Governors

We propose to establish a Council of Governors that comprises a mix of elected public and staff members and members appointed by our key stakeholders. Each of our elected Governors will consider and represent the views and opinions of the constituencies of which they are a member.

The statutory duties of the Council of Governors are to:

• appoint, remove and decide the terms of office of the Chairman and other non-executive members of the Board of Directors, and approve the appointment of the Chief Executive;

• appoint and remove the auditor;

• review the annual accounts, auditor’s report and annual report at a general meeting; and

• express a view on the Board of Directors’ forward plans for the organisation.
